The Mitsubishi Companies is a Japanese multinational conglomerate comprising a range of autonomous businesses which share the Mitsubishi brand, trademark and legacy.
The Mitsubishi company was first established by Yatarō Iwasaki in 1870. The name Mitsubishi meaning "water caltrop" and hence "rhombus", which is reflected in the company's famous logo. Mitsubishi can be also translated as "three diamonds".
